BOVEC
, Slovenia – Despite global warming, magical-looking cloaks of ice and snow still sometimes descend on much of planet Earth.

In Eastern Europe, John Newson, a multi-talented writer, photographer and entrepreneur, has bundled up to enjoy his first full winter amid snowy mountains. Less than a year ago, he and wife Caroline left the tropics where they’d lived on a sparsely populated island near China’s Pearl River Delta. For now, they’ve completely abandoned their long-time habit of walking barefoot.

As an admirer of natural beauty, even that accompanied by bone-numbing temperatures, John sends along these photos. Viewing the images may cause chills, but our readers have the advantage of enjoying the European winter wonderland minus the risk of slipping on ice and tumbling down a mountain-side.
