Christmas in Hong Kong

Photo Gallery

Although distant from “winter wonderlands”, the people of Hong Kong enjoy celebrating Christmas with decorations, gifts and parties. Heavily adorned holiday trees stand outside shops, in malls and on public squares. Even the youngest children wear special costumes and beam in pleasure. When Santa Claus visits an outlying island, the enthusiastic residents greet him with a bonfire and a beach party. Shoppers ride the green-and-white Star Ferries through the smog between Hong Kong Island and Kowloon. When darkness descends, the towering buildings beside Victoria Harbour glow with festive lights.
