The publisher (ThingsAsian Press) behind a book I’m illustrating will send me to Vietnam this fall to research and write about contemporary Vietnamese art and other subjects. While I’ll do plenty of preparing, both online and off, there’s no substitute for other travelers’ advice. Sometimes the best art appears in surprising spots.
