Letter to the Editor
Trick or Treat in Chinese Courts?

Unlike its Western counterparts, the Chinese-mainland judicial system appears to inspire little confidence due to its non-independence and reported corruption. Maybe justice still can happen.

Dr Liu Nanping, a founding partner in a mainland law firm, wrote an article titled Trick or Treat: Legal Reasoning in the Shadow of Corruption in the PRC. It was published in 2009.

In a talk at the University of Hong Kong on March 23, Dr Liu will share some real cases and discuss the skills and techniques to follow legal proceedings. This event (in English) begins at 6:30 in the Council Chamber, 8th Floor, Meng Wah Complex, HKU.
