Please join us for a literary dinner on November 25 (7:30-9:30 p.m.) and meet one of Sri Lanka's most exciting new authors at the historical Kowloon Cricket Club.
Shehan Karunatilaka's prize-winning novel, Chinaman, is about cricket. It's a mystery story, wildly inventive comedy and tale of obsession and slow-bowling. It tells a powerful, eccentric story about modern Sri Lanka, with its tragic divisions, but comic unity in loving a cherished sport. The plot has an alcoholic journalist seeking a missing cricketer from the 1980s.
Shehan has played bass with the Sri Lankan bands Independent Square and Powercut Circus. By trade, he's an advertising copywriter. He lives in Singapore and is writing another novel.
