No trip to Prince Edward Island is complete without a traditional Maritime kitchen party. In that spirit, the TV show, Live with Regis and Kelly, welcomes fiddler Cynthia MacLeod and guitarist/vocalist Jon Matthews to its July 15 broadcast from Charlottetown.
“You never know what a high profile appearance like this can lead to,” Matthews said. “We plan to make Regis and Kelly hoot and holler, clap and maybe even give us a stepdance or two.”
Cynthia and Jon can't reveal exactly what they'll do on the show, but say the performance will be part of a special segment with an Island theme. Also appearing are Canadian-born actress Elisha Cuthbert, musical group One Republic and actor John Corbett.
MacLeod and Matthews have returned from the Restigouche 1760 festival in northern New Brunswick. Both are well into a rigorous P.E.I. summer schedule of 60-plus performances. They have toured across Canada, northeastern United States and beyond, pleasing audiences with their foot-stomping, high-energy traditional and contemporary Celtic fiddle and songs. They recently co-produced MacLeod's new album Riddle, recorded at Matthews’ Big Grey Sound Studio.
