Straight Up the Slope
Since moving to Slovenia from Hong Kong’s Lamma Island (Snowy Peaks Lure Couple From Tropical Isle, March 15, 2007), I’ve had plenty of neighbors and dogs as company.

Our own dogs, Lucky and Hebe, are doing nicely, thanks. They realize that the mountains really have something going for them. The dogs enjoy hanging around in the back garden, on the front balcony and in the veggie garden where I’m digging and planting raspberries.

As for swimming, Lucky and Hebe think that the snow-melt Soca River takes a bit of getting used to after the South China Sea, but “Hey, what the heck? Let’s swim anyway” seems to be the general philosophy.

They love to leave the house and head straight up the mountain. We climb higher each day, but by God, I get knackered on the endless 45-degree slopes.
