Seen Window Scenes Catch Artist's Fancy

Titled Windows, an exhibition of paintings and sculptures by Winnie Davis continues until January 8 at the Culture Club Gallery in Hong Kong.

Windows provide any building's only void space, yet are vital to its form. Through this void space, connections flow between inside and outside. Otherwise the space inside becomes totally isolated from the outside, and the outside space totally irrelevant to that inside. A series of Winnie's paintings focuses on the theme of windows. One may imagine being inside looking out or outside peeping inside.

Born in Hong Kong, the artist studied at the University of Hong Kong and the Hong Kong Polytechnic University. In 1976, she started painting, Chinese calligraphy and seal-carving. By 1996, she began to learn sculpture. Since 1978, she has exhibited in Hong Kong, Macau, the Chinese mainland, Taiwan and Canada.
