The Palaung Women's Organization invites you to a press conference on June 14 for the launch of a new report, Stolen Lives: Human Trafficking From Palaung Areas of Burma to China. The event begins at 10:30 a.m. at the Foreign Correspondents Club of Thailand in Bangkok.
Representatives will discuss the report's findings on the increase in human trafficking under Burma's military government, Burma's economic collapse and the regime's neglect of traditional livelihoods and other factors that contribute to human trafficking in northern Shan State. Such factors include lack of access to education and surging opium cultivation.
