As founders of the annual Proverse Prize for unpublished writing and of Proverse Hong Kong (publishers of prose and verse), we're announcing publication of the inaugural Proverse Prize-winning works (2009).

Laura Solomon's novella Instant Messages and Rebecca Tomasis' novel Mishpacha – Family will be launched in Hong Kong on November 23 (7 p.m.) at the Helena May, 35 Garden Road, Central District.

Four other writers will launch books at the same event: Lelawattee Manoo-Rahming, Immortelle and Bhandaaraa Poems; Jason Polley, Refrain (short  stories in verse); Akin Jeje, Smoked Pearl: Poems of Hong Kong and Beyond; and Olga Walló, Tightrope! A Bohemian Tale (a biographical novel translated from Czech). To add to the excitement, finalists for the 2010 Proverse Prize will be revealed.

Together, the new books are unusual, entertaining, compassionate, humorous, exciting and trend-setting. They are intimate and confessional with wisdom and breadth of approach.
