Two years ago, we showed The Tango Lesson at our first movie screening. At 8 p.m. on December 3, we’ll show it again for the top-class tango performances and the passion for love it celebrates. Viewing space will be limited.
Written and directed by Sally Potter, The Tango Lesson tells of a filmmaker, dissatisfied with a screenplay, who stumbles upon the tango and an Argentine dancer (Pablo Veron) living in Paris. Fascinated, she puts herself under Pablo’s tutelage, striking a deal – if Pablo makes her a tango dancer, he can star in her next film. He achieves his side of the bargain when they perform in a show, but her attempt to make a film with him in Buenos Aires exposes deep complexities. How do you follow when your instinct is to lead?
