Major League Baseball, PEOPLE magazine and the New York Yankees have announced Peter Brady as the Yankees’ “all-star” in the “All-Stars Among Us” campaign that debuted in 2009 and recognizes individuals serving their communities in extraordinary ways.
From Brookfield, Connecticut, Brady was chosen by fans for his community service in the Handy Dandy Handy Man Ministry. Brady, plus 29 other “All-Stars Among Us”, one representing each MLB club, will attend and be honored in a pre-game ceremony at the 81st Major League Baseball All-Star Game on July 13 in Anaheim, California. Nation-wide, fans cast 1.7 million votes at PeopleAllStars.com to select from 90 finalists.
In 1998, Brady first volunteered as a part-time handyman for seniors in his church's parish community. He raked leaves, changed light bulbs and fixed leaky faucets. Now the Handy Dandy Handy Man Ministry is an official nonprofit with 1,000 volunteers. His ministry also includes performing extreme home makeovers for the less fortunate.
