An informal discussion, “Online Freedoms and the Information and Communications Technology Sector: A Human Rights Advocacy Perspective", is set for November 1 (1-2 p.m.) at the University of Hong Kong. The venue is Room 404 in the T.T. Tsui Building.
This discussion will focus on the rights to online freedom of expression, access to information and privacy in a China context, and the roles that different stakeholders can play to strengthen human-rights awareness and accountability. It will introduce the work of Human Rights in China (HRIC), an international NGO that promotes human rights and advances their institutional protection in China. Joey H. Lee, senior program manager at HRIC's Hong Kong office, will participate.
