The Saskatchewan Roughriders of the Canadian Football League have named Corey Chamblin as their new head coach. “Being a head coach is about managing men and relating to the players, which I feel is Corey's strong point,” said general manager Brendan Taman.
Chamblin comes from the Hamilton Tiger-Cats where he was defensive co-ordinator. The Alabama native also spent three seasons working with the defensive backs in Calgary. Earlier, he coached in NFL Europe for the Frankfurt Galaxy. In the 2006 season, he finished a coaching internship with the Washington Redskins. For five years, he played in the National Football League.
The Roughriders are “so similar to where I'm from and what I'm used to – the work ethic of the players, the professionalism of the organization and the excitement of the fans – this is how football is supposed to be,” Chamblin said. He's the 29th head coach in the Riders' modern history.
