It was a jam-packed musical weekend in Ottawa recently when Prince Edward Islanders joined performers from across Canada and beyond at the 23rd annual Ontario Council of Folk Festivals Conference. Colette Cheverie, Rose Cousins, and Chuck and Albert all performed in official OCFF showcases. Nudie and The Turks and the Grass Mountain Hobos joined fellow regional musicians on the Canadian Music East Coast Style stage.
About 700 registered delegates took part in the weekend, including performers, artistic directors, buyers and provincial and national music associations. The OCFF conference, spanning four days and three nights, is a key event for Ontario’s folk, roots and traditional music community. It’s programmed to the hilt with provocative speakers, educational seminars, engaging roundtable discussions, informal meetings, performer showcases and the best jam sessions outside the festival circuit.
