Movie star and singer Karen Mok has been appointed as a patron of the Animals Asia Foundation (AAF). She has served as an ambassador for the AAF Moon Bear Rescue campaign since 2004. In her new role, she champions the welfare of all animals.
“I'm glad for an opportunity to give the animals of Asia a voice by spreading the word that they deserve to live in a world without fear or suffering…,” Mok said. “Please join me in making choices that help millions of animals – not wearing fur or buying ivory, respecting dogs and cats as friends. These are simple choices that make a world of difference to the animals.”
The appointment happened during an event at the British Consulate General in Hong Kong. There, Karen introduced a powerful one-minute film titled Stain in which she stars. The film, highlighting the cruelty of bear-bile farming, will appear frequently on the National Geographic Channel and Discovery Channel, among other regional networks. A short film, Moon Bear Rescue: A Decade On, also premiered.
