Titled Dahon, an exhibition of acrylic-on-canvas paintings by Mike (Mitu) Tupas, continues until December 13 at the Culture Club Gallery in Central, Hong Kong. A drummer, craftsman, performer, cultural worker, educator and visual artist rolled into one, Tupas has good hands and a creative mind. He produces paintings, sculptures, crafts and musical instruments sought-after by art enthusiasts and fellow musicians.
“I’ve wanted to show my paintings in Hong Kong since spending four years working at its Disneyland,” Tupas said. “Since then, I could devote time to my paintings. I’ve been inspired to put together the different colors and shapes of leaves.
“We are only humble leaves attached to a mighty tree. Each piece gives me a different energy for the next one, to discover the next composition of colors and shapes and its value to our emotions.”
