The Li Ka Shing Faculty of Medicine is privileged to host the Shaw Prize Lecture in Life Science and Medicine this year. The Shaw Prize laureates, professors Jules Hoffmann, Rusian Medzhitov and Bruce Beutler, are invited to lecture on their discovery of the molecular mechanism of innate immunity, the first line of defense against pathogens. The event is scheduled for 9:30 a.m. on September 29 at the University of Hong Kong.

The Shaw Prize, established under the auspices of Sir Run Run Shaw in 2002, is an international award to honor those who achieve distinguished and significant advances. The prize aims to advance progress, enhance quality of life and enrich spiritual civilization.
