Recently, I took a look at Cairns Media Magazine mainly to read a story about John Newson and Caroline Biebuyck (Snowy Peaks Lure Couple From Tropical Isle), only to discover my dog featured in one of the articles.
When reading a few pieces that looked of interest, I found one on the Animals Asia Foundation’s Professor Paws program (Tail-Wagging Teachers Join Festival). My dog, Lucky, and I volunteer in this program.
With pleasure, I noticed a photo of Lucky surrounded by little kids. I must have been just out of the frame because I remember the school and the children. One boy, quite naughty but bright as a button, always was the first to raise his hand to walk, feed or groom Lucky.
Last year, Lucky was awarded the “outstanding mixed breed” prize at the Doctor Dog Devotion Awards. We’ve also appeared on Chinese TV and in a pet supplement with this month’s HK Cosmopolitan magazine. He’s quite a star because he’s a mongrel, which the AAF stresses to discourage people from buying puppies at pet shops.
