Korean Cats Gain a Canadian Friend

I loved your feature story, Gracious Lady Cat Leans on Friends in Final Days. These kinds of tales really move me. It’s beautifully written.

Recently, a lovely cat of mine was put to sleep at age 15. She’d been my 18th-birthday present. When she died, my mother was terrified to tell me. Once I left for Asia, the cat had stayed in Canada as my mother’s companion, but I made a trip last summer and saw her one last time -- the cat, and my dear Mom.

Below is a photo of my current little street refugees. I catch cats and send them to a shelter where I volunteer, but I opted to keep these two babies. One is a funny little tabby named Magic with a brain injury that makes her 10 times more charismatic than any other cat I’ve ever had. The calico cat is named Jericho.

We have a real stray-cat problem in South Korea so I occasionally team up with Animal Rescue Korea and do my best to keep the adoptions going. I don’t use a trap, but am quite good at catching them and have the scars to prove it!
