Congratulations to Music Prince Edward Island members Colette Cheverie and Catherine MacLellan for winning awards at the 5th annual Canadian Folk Music Awards (CFMA) last weekend in Ottawa. Colette won in the traditional-singer category while Catherine triumphed as the solo artist of the year. These were their first national awards.

“This is a source of pride for the PEI music industry,” said Music PEI executive director Rob Oakie. “For the first time, Islanders have won CFMAs, and it’s just the beginning. We had five nominations. It all testifies to the high quality of music that PEI produces and to the commitments these artists have made.”
