The third annual Prince Edward Island International Film Festival takes place on July 10-11 at The Guild in Charlottetown, Canada. Films from 29 states, 10 provinces and 12 countries were submitted with 24 selected.
The event begins with “Charlottetown Shootout”, in which five filmmakers make five-minute films in the previous five days using a genre, props and dialogues drawn from a hat.
Later, the attendees will see the Canadian premiere of Good Intentions, a southern comedy about blackmail, robbery and family values starring Leann Rimes and Luke Perry. Los Angeles actor/producer Randy McDowell will attend.
The World Shorts category will include special presentations of Hiding in Walls starring Jane Lynch of Glee fame and The Macabre World of Lavender Williams starring Christopher Lloyd and John Lithgow.
In another highlight, feature film Le Divan du Monde shows a young woman from Summerside, PEI, uprooted on the West Coast. The festival closes with awards, including for the most-promising Canadian film-maker and the best Maritime Provinces production.
