Letter to the Editor
Island Music Comes Naturally
Thanks for producing the book, Island Toes A’Tapping, about music in the Canadian province of Prince Edward Island, and for including my name. I know it’s an honor because there are so many fine musicians, and I appreciate it, being very proud of coming from the Island.

I hope that your directory (oh my, the work involved) can be expanded over time, and that the book can see successive editions. It’s so good to see the music scene documented. The tone and the writing style are perfect too.

It’s true that PEI musicians are flexible and adapt different styles into a recognizable sound and sensibility, no matter what the genre. While growing up, I played in a rock band, folk groups, church choirs and talent shows all over the place, and our family always made music at home. I developed a career as a classical pianist, but I play and love all kinds of music. Probably this comes naturally from growing up on PEI.

Although living in Ontario, I return every summer. I use your book to help keep track of all the great musicians. Thanks so much and keep up the good work.
