Historic Jeter Jersey on Show at Museum

The New York Yankees Museum adds another historic piece to its collection with a jersey worn by the Yankees shortstop, Derek Jeter, in the historic game when he smashed his 3,000th career hit.

Jeter became the 28th Major League Baseball player ever (and at age 37, the fourth youngest) to reach the 3,000-hit plateau. He did it with a third-inning solo home run off Tampa Bay pitcher David Price. Jeter finished the game 5-for-5 with a game-winning RBI single.

The Yankees Museum is located on the Main Level near Gate 6 at Yankee Stadium. Guests can visit there on game days from when gates open until the end of the eighth inning and on non-game days as part of Yankee Stadium tours.
