Hill Dogs TNR-Targets For a Scientific Study

If Lamma Islanders can find time on January 10 or 13 (10 a.m. to 1 p.m.), they should go to the Hong Kong City Hall recital hall to support dog TNR (trap, neuter and return).

We have proved that TNR works on cats on Lamma. Now the Society for the Prevention of Cruelty to Animals (SPCA) wants permission to bring the Lamma hill dogs under control. This will be a scientific study to prove once and for all that TNR works. There are also study areas in Yuen Long and Sai Kung.

The government has conducted its catch-and-kill policy for decades. Apart from being inhumane, it doesn't work. TNR will work. But we need to get past the hurdle of public consultation. We have instructions to be polite and co-operative. Probably I'll need my mouth duct-taped as I have pushed for this for more than 12 years.

When TNR applies, dogs can
prosper without multiplying.
