Editor's Note: An exhibition of oil paintings, titled Splendor and Blossom, by Phoebe Kam continues until June 11 at the Culture Club Gallery in Hong Kong's Central District. It's the artist's first solo exhibition.
I am a flower lover and love all the colors in my life. In the Splendor and Blossom series, I played with colors to make flowers, fireworks and light appear in unusual ways. Audiences may think some of the plants are from other planets.
It all represents that my life mostly has been colorful and splendid. At least, I feel that way. Besides, the work reflects emotions at the moment. I love my life, the people who were kind to me and our world. We must try hard to save our environment and protect the world.
Audiences may sense brightness, optimism and positive energy from my works. In a way, the paintings also praise our god for creating such beauty. Yet looking beyond the surface, there are hidden worries that audiences may not sense immediately.
