Bestselling author John Grisham will write his first series of children’s books for Penguin Young Readers Group. The first title, Theodore Boone: Kid Lawyer, will appear on May 25.

Grisham aims this series at readers aged 8-12. The initial book follows a 13-year-old, amateur attorney unwittingly tugged into a high-profile murder trial. The second one, also about Theo, will be published in 2011.

According to Penguin Young Readers Group president Don Weisberg, “We look forward to introducing John Grisham to a whole new generation of young readers. Theodore Boone delivers his trademark storytelling, perfectly spun for a young audience. Kids will love it.”
