| A small cafeteria serving halal food (permissible under Islamic law) has been set up at Hong Kong University. This signifies another step to promote cultural diversity on campus.
At the opening ceremony on September 9, Professor John Spinks, HKU’s senior advisor to the vice-chancellor and director of undergraduate admissions, will deliver a welcome speech. Consul-generals from Islamic countries and representatives of Hong Kong’s Islamic community will take part in the ceremony.
Opening festivities are scheduled for 1 p.m. to 1:45 p.m. The venue is the first-floor lounge of the Fong Shu Chuen Amenities Centre in HKU’s Swire Building.
