A benefit concert for the family of the late Jim Fay is scheduled for the Benevolent Irish Society (BIS) Hall in Charlottetown from 2 to 5 p.m. on November 23.
A well-known Prince Edward Island musician, Jim, aged 44, died suddenly in Toronto, leaving behind wife Marie and two-year-old son Seamus. Donations and a silent auction will be held, together with continuous music.
Originally from Ireland, Jim was a popular Celtic musician known for the sincerity of his singing and a quiet, gentle sense of humor. Audiences enjoyed this multi-instrumentalist who could dash off tunes with great drive and swagger. He performed many times at the BIS Hall.
Everyone is welcome to attend. Musicians, please bring your instruments to give this good man a true Island musical sendoff.
