Letter to the Editor
'Exciting' Canadian Mistry Garners Prestigious Prize

I'm delighted that Rohinton Mistry has won the 2012 Neustadt International Prize for Literature, often called the “American Nobel".

Juror Samrat Upadhyay said: “Mistry writes with great passion, and his body of work shows the most compassionate and astute observations of the human condition, making him one of the most exciting and important contemporary English-language novelists.”

An Indian-born Canadian author, Mistry lives in Brampton, Ontario. His novels include A Fine Balance, Such a Long Journey, Family Matters and Tales From Firozsha Baag.
