Kim Dunn has long been a versatile side-man, singer and pianist. Now with his own solo project, Take This Hammer, Dunn will share the stage with award-winning singer/songwriter, guitarist and saxophonist Ian Sherwood. They will perform at the Harmony House Theatre in Hunter River, P.E.I., Canada, at 8 p.m. on August 27.
Dunn has pursued a successful music career for 30 years and has worked with Rita MacNeil, Bruce Guthro, Matt Minglewood, Jimmy Rankin, Lennie Gallant, Jill Barber, Dave Gunning, and George Canyon, among others. After playing on many CDs for other artists, he advances his own songwriting and singing with a self-produced debut album.
Sherwood mixes catchy melodies and heartbreaking stories with intricate guitar loops, saxophones and pop/rock/jazz grooves. A former member of the Jive Kings band, he feels comfortable at large festivals or quiet house concerts. With the release of his 2007 sophomore album, Art Of Conversation, Sherwood was said to have “...a tongue that can be firmly planted-in-cheek in his often funny, often poignant lyrics”.
