The movie is a Columbia Pictures/Sony production starring Daniel Craig and Rooney Mara, directed by David Fincher. It's based on the first volume in Stieg Larsson's phenomenal Millennium Trilogy that sold more than 55 million copies.

In the plot, Harriet Vanger disappeared decades ago from a gathering on an island owned by her powerful family. No body was found, but her uncle believes she was killed by someone in the dysfunctional family. He hires disgraced financial journalist Mikael Blomkvist and tattooed, truculent computer-hacker Lisbeth Salander to investigate. They begin to unravel a dark past, but the Vangers are secretive. How far will they go to protect themselves?
