Letter to the Editor
Does Asia Continue to Gain Global Clout?

As we enter the century's second decade, a shift of economic and political importance from West to East will accelerate. But the chances for China and the region will be realized best only if education and innovation are guiding forces. Always socially desirable, education has become an economic imperative. Educated talent drives development.

At the University of Hong Kong on March 3, John Naisbitt, author of many Megatrend books, will deliver an updated message about Asia's rise and future. He and his wife, Doris, co-author of China's Megatrends: The Eight Pillars of a New Society, will share their judgments about the most important trends in the shift from West to East with a special focus on the role of Asian young people. This event begins at 5 p.m. in HKU's Loke Yew Hall.
