Dirty Deal at Smog Harbor
Many public forums and organizations have collected community feedback on the plans for Hong Kong’s new Central waterfront. Always, the response has been very clear. People want less density, more greenery, more diversity and a “boulevard” (not a six-lane highway).

Fulfilling these wishes would require changes to the outline zoning plan, but the government refuses to countenance changes. It sticks to the “big block” footprints and a “thundering thoroughfare”. This defies public wishes and will lead to a sub-optimal waterfront. If this truly is the last land reclamation in Central, then it’s the last chance to get it right and to create something enjoyable.

Designing Hong Kong has taken the initiative to make its own application to the Town Planning Board to revise the outline zoning plan as people wish. This application needs support. Please go to www.designinghongkong.com, click “Express Support” and then send the support form to the Town Planning Board.
