| At Hong Kong University’s 179th congregation for conferring honorary doctoral degrees, two outstanding individuals were recognized for commitments to humanitarian causes and for global leadership in HIV / AIDS research and advocacy.
Bill Clinton, former president of the United States, was conferred Doctor of Laws honoris causa. David D. Ho was bestowed Doctor of Science honoris causa. University chancellor Donald Tsang, Hong Kong’s chief executive, officiated at the ceremony in Loke Yew Hall inside HKU’s Main Building on December 4.
Dr Ho has been at the forefront of AIDS-related research for three decades. He also delivered a public lecture, “Threats Posed by the AIDS Pandemic”.
