At 8 p.m. on June 28, Hong Kong's Culture Club Gallery will screen an Audrey Hepburn movie for the first time.
Breakfast at Tiffany's, a 1961 classic with a style ahead of its time, is a romantic comedy starring Hepburn and George Peppard, and featuring Patricia Neal, Buddy Ebsen, Martin Balsam and Mickey Rooney. Directed by Blake Edwards and released by Paramount Pictures, it was based loosely on a novella of the same name by Truman Capote.
Hepburn's portrayal of Holly Golightly, a naïve, eccentric café-society girl, is considered her most memorable and identifiable role. She called it challenging since she was an introvert playing an extrovert. Her performance of “Moon River” helped composer Henry Mancini and lyricist Johnny Mercer to win an Oscar for Best Song.
A little black Givenchy dress worn by Hepburn in the film became an iconic garment in the 20th century.
