The Shwe Gas Movement will hold a press conference in Bangkok at the Foreign Correspondents Club of Thailand at 10 a.m. on September 6. This event will launch a new report, Sold Out: Launch of China Pipeline Project Unleashes Abuse Across Burma.

Details in the report reveal the disturbing extent to which China has advanced with the construction of trans-Burma oil-and-gas-pipeline projects despite raging conflicts in the project area and associated human-rights abuses. Wong Aung of the Shwe Gas Movement and Lway Aye Nang of the Palaung Women's Organization will speak at the press conference.
