Che Still Inspires
The Asian People’s Theatre Festival Society marks the 40th anniversary of the Cuban revolutionary Che Guevara’s death with presentations of Che: A Romance Ritual by the Korean group Namoodak. Che’s dreams and dedication still inspire.

This play, adapted from a controversial Chinese version by Hwang Jisu, highlighted the recent Korean People’s Theatre Festival and the Korean Performing Arts Festival. After leaving Hong Kong, it will tour in Latin America where Che (1928-1967) lived and died.

Mingling parody, shadows, and images, the Korean-language presentation creates a surreal world with Latin American and Korean arts like shadow play, stilts, tango and samba.

Supported in part by the April Fifth Action Foundation, the Hong Kong shows are set for 7:30 p.m. on November 7 and 8 at the McAulay Studio in the Hong Kong Arts Centre. Tickets are available at URBTIX outlets.
