Can Music Heal Japan? Groups Prepare to Play

The Hong Kong University Students Union is proud to present “The Joint-University Charity Concert: Music Heals Japan", a charity event involving student unions from 10 tertiary institutions in Hong Kong and with collaboration by 14 orchestras, choirs and music societies (more than 100 musicians) from the institutions. Proceeds will go to the Salvation Army and World Vision Hong Kong.

Scheduled for the evenings of June 21 and 22, the concert will take place in Loke Yew Hall at the University of Hong Kong. The musical program is specially designed to depict Japan's transformation from calamity to light.

Three HKU students organising the concert Sean Li, Flavian Luk and Sharen Lau, plus other representatives, met the media on June 7 to explain the event and demonstrate some pieces to be presented. Three years ago, Li helped to organize a similar event after a massive earthquake in China's Sichuan Province.
