| Since 1985, Bookazine has matured into Hong Kong’s friendliest, general-purpose bookstore group. Now it celebrates the opening of a 10th shop -- in the IFC Mall, Central District.
A joint party in the new store from 6:30 to 8:30 p.m. on December 18 celebrates the expansion and launches the latest (fourth) edition of the WOM Guide (word of mouth). This best-selling book, Hong Kong’s only survey-based restaurant guide, separates the good, bad and ugly.
WOM Guide 2009, by Samanta Pong and Fergus Fung, reviews more than 1,300 eateries -- everything from traditional tea-houses and humble noodle stalls to Michelin-star venues, private-dining rooms and tourist favourites. The new book is bigger and covers many more restaurants.
The WOM team has added user-friendly symbols for quick reference. For those who prefer al fresco dining, the guide has a “sun symbol” to indicate that option. It even tells which places are pet-friendly or offer a BYOB policy (Bring-Your-Own-Bottle) with no corkage charge.
