Book-Lover Bickley Reveals the Basics

Author, teacher and publisher Gillian Bickley will speak on the basics of becoming a published author when she appears at a Women in Publishing Society event set for January 11 (6:30 p.m.) at Hong Kong's Foreign Correspondents’ Club.

Bickley will highlight the things to do and those to avoid when approaching publishers. She also will discuss the Proverse Prize for unpublished non-fiction, fiction and poetry for which she is a co-founder. This contest is open to everyone, regardless of residence, citizenship or nationality.

A writer, teacher and publisher, Bickley has lived in Hong Kong for almost 40 years, working at the University of Hong Kong and the Hong Kong Baptist University. Previously she taught at Universities in Nigeria and New Zealand and has lectured widely.

Admission to the upcoming event costs HK$80 for WiPS members and HK$150 for non-members.
