China has become a major player in global business. Not only that, but Hong Kong and its people are major factors in the Chinese economy. Yet Hong Kong's grasp of English, the international language of commerce, is embarrassingly poor.
On July 25, Barry Kalb, a veteran journalist, columnist and journalism lecturer at the University of Hong Kong, will host a talk at the Hong Kong Book Fair to discuss the situation and what is needed to rectify it. He's the author of a book called You Can Write Better English. The discussion (in English) takes place at 11 a.m. in Hall 3E of the Hong Kong Convention and Exhibition Centre.
