Letter to the Editor
Author Flips Open Heart of the Buddha

The Women in Publishing Society (WiPS) in Hong Kong invites you to meet acclaimed author Elsie Sze, whose latest book, The Heart of the Buddha (2009, Emerald Book Company, United States), takes readers on a breathtaking adventure in the Himalayan kingdom of Bhutan.

When a Canadian woman vanishes during a six-month assignment in Bhutan, her twin sister tries to solve the mystery. In easy, poetic prose, Sze paints an enchanting picture of Bhutan, spinning a tale of mystery, adventure and romance.

The author grew up in Hong Kong and lives in Toronto. A former teacher and librarian, she’s an avid traveler, often to remote places that supply the settings for stories. Her first novel, Hui Gui: A Chinese Story, competed for Foreword Magazine’s 2006 Fiction Book of the Year Award.

Sze speaks at the Hong Kong Foreign Correspondents’ Club (2 Lower Albert Road, Central) at 6:30 on January 11. Admission costs HK$100 for WiPS members or HK$200 for non-members.
