Titled Forgotten, an exhibition by French artist Leslie Lachiche runs until September 18 at the Culture Club Gallery in Hong Kong.
Through paintings and creations, Leslie asks: What is forgotten? Amid hectic lifestyles, we may forget the simplest things, leading to more vital issues. In busy, turbulent Hong Kong, people rush toward wealth and security, but may forget joy and the enjoyment of life’s journey.
The exhibition alludes to forgotten beauties. We live in a global culture, but the artist believes that ethnic tribes can help us to rediscover the beauties within people, nature and true emotions.
Born in France, Leslie lived in Lyon until her early 20s. After migrating to Hong Kong in 2003, she worked as a fashion, underwear and swimwear designer. Later she became more independent, exploring artistic expression on natural, multicultural Lantau Island.
Leslie works with acrylics and mixed media on paintings, plus (recycled) art deco and handmade jewelry. When possible, she reuses recycled materials.
