Until December 31, a show of art by Van I-Pong (1917-1994) presents images from two major periods in the artist's life: in Hong Kong (1949-84) and then in Canada (1984-94).
Van's landscapes of the first period are widely acclaimed for vibrant expression and massive construction through powerful brushwork and dark ink. At the time, he taught at the Chinese University of Hong Kong and in a private studio that he established to more widely share his landscape-painting knowledge and technique. During the decade in Canada, he was best known for finger-painted landscapes.
The exhibition opens from 10 a.m. to 5 p.m. daily at Gallery I, Art Museum, Institute of Chinese Studies, Chinese University of Hong Kong.
