The K11 shopping complex in Hong Kong pioneers a blend of three essential elements – art, people and nature. Recently, we were short-listed for the International Art and Work Awards 2010.
In early November, the first such awards were presented in Barcelona. This was a global event for artists, art organizations, designers, architects, property developers and companies. There were four awards categories: art commissioned for specific sites in the working environment, buildings designed to display art, corporate art collections and programs, and most outstanding contribution to art in the workplace.
K11 competed in the corporate art collections and programs category, reinforcing its core value and support to art development. We not only display a permanent collection of young artists' works, but also allow the public to appreciate art and performance by supplying multi-dimensional spaces. Since opening in 2009, we have organized various art exhibitions, performances and workshops. All this enhances exchanges between artists and the public, nurtures art appreciation and gives young artists more opportunities.
