Actress Wishes Monica a Long Theatre Career

Thank you for your sweet story, Plays Paws! Theatre Regular Mingles, Meows, about Monica, the dedicated, theatre-going cat at the Victoria Playhouse on Prince Edward Island, Canada.

I had the great pleasure of working there for two seasons and instantly befriended Monica. Indeed, during the run of our production of Lars Davidson’s Adrift, I worried that she might wander onstage and spoil the illusion that we were in a boat at sea! But Monica is a conscientious and respectful cat who never would do anything to compromise a performance.

That same year, I did hope she might wander onstage as I played the dog Sylvia in a production of the same name. What fun it might have been, and she could have made her stage debut!

Monica is a sweet, loving lady whom I often shoo-ed from the middle of the road for fear of arriving cars. But she was only on her way to greet people, and the cars always waited for her, the drivers amused and respectful.

I have great affection for Monica and hope she will be with the Victoria Playhouse for many years to come.
