MID-LEVELS, Hong Kong -- The period just before the Easter weekend turned into a hectic time. Just when I thought it was safe to relax a little, a whole bunch of rescue cases materialized. Would you believe I’d been telling people there weren't many kittens around?

Ten kittens were found by another rescue group. Later a lady called me saying she'd been given another four newborns to hand-rear. I hope they all pull through.

We also learned about a pregnant cat that had been trapped in Tsuen Mun. She spent the night in a cat box as the carer felt unsure what to do with her and didn't want to take her for desexing as the cat was heavily pregnant. I received notification about this cat on Facebook. In the end, she came to stay with me.

Chingy, as she's been named fondly after her rescuer, gave birth to four kittens on Good Friday evening. She and the kittens all are doing well.

If you never have seen kittens being born, it's pretty amazing, and I have been lucky enough to observe on two separate occasions. In Chingy's case, I arrived home just in time to watch the fourth kitten enter the world.

Last but not least, it was really nice meeting John Cairns from Cairns Media Magazine. He came to interview us for a Feature Story, and he had a chance to meet all the furry members of our household, the rescues and all. My cat, Sexy Mama, sure did take a liking to him, as did two others, Arnie and Tobias.
